Theory Of A Deadman - In The Middle lyrics

What would you do if we woke up and the whole world was gone?
Well, would you believe with me is where you belong?
Well there goes the world and we're right in the middle
There goes the world and we're right in the middle
I said leave me here
I said leave me here with you

As the city crumbles I see that there's nothing left behind
As we lay here together I feel your heart beat with mine
With time standing still, here is where we've always been
Well there goes the world and we're right in the middle again

I said leave me here
I said leave me here
I said leave me here
I said leave me here with you

Hey you, where are we going from here?
Hey you, where are we going from here?
Hey you, where are we going?
Cuz there goes the world and I'm right in the middle with you
I'm right in the middle with you
I'm right in the middle with you
I'm right in the middle with you
I'm right in the middle with you

Roadrunner Records email

Once we had chosen our song to use we requested permission off the Bands owner "Roadrunner Records"

Conventions found in music videos

After we had some choices for film locations we decided to look at the conventions of music video in more detail. We had a rough idea in what we wanted to create and how we wanted to create it. Looking at different types of music videos fitting in with our genre we found many conventions which tend to be followed by most videos. Seethers "Remedy" is a good example of the conventions used.

We found the following:
- There is often a narrative storyline to accompany shots of the band playing on a stage
- In the scenes of the narrative there is no, or very little, dialogue other than that of the miming of the lyrics
- Realistic locations to coincide with a realistic storyline/plot
- Variation on the locations used
- Variation on the shots/camer angles used
- The main transition was a cut to maintain a fast paced video or slow fades to retain a mellow feeling to an emotional song
- Lots of close-ups of the lead singer and band
- The beat of the music matched that of the cut

Possible Film Locations

In the planning stage the group felt it was necessary to take some photographs of where we would ideally like to film. We came up with a selection of locations and took this opportunity to take some photographs for our print work to be completed later. Our first image is one of the beach and we decided on using this as it gives a sense of isolation with the empty sea and the surroundings help to portray this.

Whilst at the beach we also took photographs of a cave. We plan to use the cave to signify that the singer has a weight on his shoulders as his relationship is becoming more complicated.

We agreed that a field would be a good place to film as the vast emptiness will help the audience understand that Warren is feeling isolated. We also believe that isolation is a major part of this video and try to portray it in as many ways as possible.

With the isolation theme running throughout our plan we believe a graveyard would be a suitable location to film as this not only continues the feeling of isolation but will also suit the music we wil be using.
